About Me

Welcome to Sabbatiblog, which is my way of connecting with colleagues, friends, and family while I am on sabbatical leave. It’s my hope that you will enjoy my travels to best practice not-for-profit organizations over the next six weeks right along with me. I’ll post regular entries describing my visits and observations, and I’ll count on you to help me consider new questions to ask or ideas to explore all along the way. My gratitude to The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust for funding the experience. I suspect it will be life changing for my organization, The Beatitudes Campus, and for me personally.

I Could Get Used to This...

It's Wednesday afternoon, and I have been at home since Sunday evening. My days have started early, but they have been paced so very nicely! I am finding a nice balance between rest and work, and I go between the analysis of my last trip- to walking my dogs -to cooking a pot of soup -to touching base with my next facility host, all in a rhythm that could be pretty easy to assimilate on a regular basis.

I find myself very conscious of time, and quite selective about how I spend it. I am disciplining myself to go back to that list I made on the airplane almost two weeks ago that outlined what I wanted from my sabbatical, and that has been a helpful exercise. It's all about intentionality.

The other awareness that I come to often is how much I miss my work friends. It's not about checking in on emails or projects...that I don't miss and have had no trouble releasing. But, we are a tightknit crew, we laugh a lot. That is what I miss.

Back to that analysis now.

God bless,

Peg
